Long time no blog

Wondering why you haven't seen me in the blog-o-sphere lately? That's because, in the last 7 weeks I've been here:

Tampa
Memphis
Pittsburgh
Los Angeles
NYC
Fayetteville
Oakland

With visits to Atlanta in between each city.

And this week, I'm headed to Seattle.

I hope to be back to normal - and back to blogging - soon.

Hold on to your hats!

I'm about to catch up on weeks of blog posting! Five new posts below to catch you up on what's happening with the Fowlkes Family. I usually hate vomit-posting, but I've been really busy with work, and had a little time on a flight today to catch up. I'm headed back to NYC, after 2 weeks at home. I've only been home for 3 work weeks since the beginning of February, so 2 weeks home in a row was wonderful! So... sorry for being a slacker. Scroll down to see what we've been up to when we're not working!

Posting Frenzy

I've been in a posting frenzy this evening, so you have 4 new posts below, including the last of the posts from our Arkansas trip. The day after we got back from Arkansas, I went to NYC for the week. Now I'm headed to Seattle tomorrow, so I wanted to get these posts up!

This weekend has been absolutely beautiful in Atlanta -- sunny and warm -- and we made the most of it. Yesterday was a 5K, a swimming lesson, a festival, erranding, a birthday party, dinner and theatre for Thomas and I and playtime with Cart Cart for Carter. Today was a playdate/lunch with friends, erranding and a playdate/dinner with different friends. I actually can't believe we fit it all in. I think it's safe to say that all three of us had a great weekend -- and that all three of us are exhausted!

P.S. Sorry to all the Arkansas friends and family that we didn't see while we were stay-cationing there. We missed you, and I promise we'll be back for a more proper visit soon!

Hello from Arkansas

Sorry for being such a truly terrible blogger over the last few months. Things haven't been very blog-worthy/blogable. BUT, now we're on a family vacation, so that's definitely some good blog fodder.

We're spending the week with my parents and Patrick and Kirstin (and their feisty fetus) in celebration of my parent's 40th wedding anniversary earlier this month. We've been at our cabin in northern Arkansas since Saturday.  We are headed back to my parent's house today, where we'll be through Sunday. We've been mostly without communications, but once we make it to my parent's house, I should be able to upload some pics of the first half of our week!

Apologies

Sorry about the lack of blogging lately. I am busy with a project that has me working morning, noon, night and late night. We have lots of good stuff waiting to be blogged, but my main focus at the moment is getting work wrapped up so that I can enjoy the holidays. Hope to be back in touch soon.

Here are a few posts you'll have to look forward to:
  • Carter's Santa Meltdown
  • Terrible Twos (seriously, terrible)
  • Carter's Fashion Choices
  • Fancy New DVR

Back to Blogging

Sorry to have been such a bad blogger the last couple of weeks. Two weeks ago, I was working in the yard and got some kind of skin thing that gradually got worse and worse. Combining the three sources I consulted: the doctor, Ashley and random Internet research, I've decided that I was bitten by a bug that I was allergic to, which had been living on a poison ivy plant. I've been on mood-altering drugs for the last week, and coming off of those drugs for the last 24 hours has been even worse than being on them. Needless to say, I haven't been in much of a blogging mood. But my chemistry seems to be back to normal, and I have a few pics from the last weeks to share. So, we're back in business.

Meanwhile, Thomas left yesterday afternoon for Mexico (luckily missing my real downward spiral of coming off the steroids) . The Ballet is performing Swan Lake in Monterrey tomorrow night. I'll let him fill you in on his trip when he gets back, but he called today and it sounds as if they are having an... adventure (and not the good kind).

Blogiversary

It has been two years since we started this little virtual scrapbook. In that time, we've posted 458 entries. Over the two years, I have posted 417 times Thomas has posted 41 times (though, I’ll say, as I said last year, that Thomas takes quite a bit more time and care with his entries than I do).

We were much more prolific the first year, when we posted 274 times, compared to 184 this year. You, however, have been much chattier this year, providing 536 comments, compared to 435 last year (which brings our average comments-per-post up to 2.9 from 1.8). The most commented on post to date is this one in which Thomas wears contacts, followed closely by this one in which he wears tights and this one in which we all learn our pirate names.

Thank you for reading and commenting!

Off Again

We got home from our fun beach trip late last night, and I'm headed off for another week in NYC and DC well before you'll be up in the morning. We did take lots of good photos this weekend, so I expect Thomas will be posting some for you soon!

Beach Bound

We're headed down to Pensacola for a few days with Park, Ashley and Anna for some fun in the sun. Sorry we've been so bad about blogging lately - we promise to come back with some good blogging fodder!

Sorry

Sorry that we haven't posted in a week. We've been under the weather, very busy at work and planning the move...

We'll try to be better this weekend!

Happy Blogiversary!

It has been one year since our first blog post! Err... actually, this was the very first post. In the last year we've posted 274 entries. Of those, 247 were posted by me, and 27 by Thomas (though I think you'll notice that Thomas takes quite a bit more care with composing his blog entries). You have made 434 comments on our blog entries. That works out to 1.76 comments per post. As far as blog content goes, Carter was the clear winner, with 121 posts about the boy (what can I say - we give the people what they want). Family, holidays, home, travel and milestones (also generally posts about Carter) were distant runners up.

It's (mostly) been a pleasure blogging for you this year. Now, come on people, let's see if we can get our average up to over 2 comments per post next year!

Systems Down

Our brand new internet/tv/phone service is letting us down. It has gone out for a few hours a couple of times since we moved, but it now appears to be down for the count. We have a technician coming out on Saturday, and hope to have service restored then, but we may be a little hard to reach via home phone or email until then. Use our cell phones if you need to reach us until then.

I am actually headed to Seattle for business until late Friday night, so I'll only be reachable by cell anyway. I'll try to download some new pics on my thumb drive and blog them from the road so you don't have to do without!

Safe Arrival

We arrived in Atlanta last night - only 45 minutes late. We brought all cameras and cords, so we expect to keep blogging while we are here. After a rough time getting to sleep last night (probably due to being over exhausted), Carter seems to be settled in and very happy to see Cart Cart and Nonna. We'll post some pictures soon!

Thanksgiving Woodland Fun

No postings for awhile as we are headed up to a rented cabin the Catskill Mountains this week for a little Thanksgivings vacation with Helen, Phil, Patrick & Kir. Don't worry, we will take the camera with us and post lots of pictures when we get back!

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Slow Blogging

You may not be seeing many posts from us this week. Well before the crack of dawn tomorrow I am headed to Boston for work. I return late tomorrow night and then turn around and head to Austin Wednesday afternoon. I'm there until Friday morning. It will be up to Thomas to keep up the blogging while I'm away - and to take care of the wee one. As for now, I'm off to catch my five hours of sleep. Lucky for me, I'm used to little sleep!

Headed West

We're off to Santa Barbara in the morning for the wedding of friends Mikael and Sally, so we'll be offline until Tuesday. Wish us luck in the security lines!

Here it is...

Our blog. For the time being, we're keeping our website as well, but the blog will be updated more often. More posts to come just as soon as Carter does something interesting.

Come on, Dance, Baby, Dance!
