Friday is show-and-tell day at Carter's school. Each week they are supposed to bring in something starting with a different letter. This week is the letter g. We just received an email with some suggestions for what the kids could bring this week. Here's the list

Carter's Favorite Song
This morning, while running errands, Carter and I were listening to music. A song came on and Carter informed me (emphatically), that it is his favorite song. He's never claimed a favorite before, so it was pretty darn cute. For the rest of the drive, we listened to the song and sang the "uh-uh-uh-oh" parts over and over again. That is the only part that he sings and is undoubtedly the reason he likes the song so much (if you listen to the amazon preview of the song you'll hear that bit) .
As both Thomas and Mandi can attest, listening to a Ben Folds song on repeat and singing along at loud volumes is not really a rarity in my car. Like mother, like son, I guess.

Wedding
Last weekend, we went to Gainsville for Thomas' cousin's wedding. Granny B and Grandpa Ron were in town, and while I don't seem to have any pictures to prove it, Carter had a GREAT time with them! Here are the pictures I do have.

My Car
Carter is getting very territorial about our family car, which he considers to be "MY car".
When it snowed in Atlanta last month, the first thing he did when he looked out the window was to gasp and exclaim "I need towel!". He proceeded to grab a tea towel and insist on wiping the snow off the car. He now tries to wipe up the car when it rains.
When Thomas goes to an orchestra performance, leaving Carter and I home without a car, he'll ask, constantly (and very perturbed), "Where my CAR be?!?"
Last night, after reading a story about a car, he looked out the window and said, VERY seriously, "My car stay HERE. You WALK Mama!"

Power
Well, after 48 hours without power due to trees and winds, we appear to be back on the grid. Special thanks to Dad/Donna and Park/Ashley for the hospitality for the past two nights and to Dad for emergency babysitting while the daycare power was also out.
Tonight is all about throwing away most of what is in the fridge and re-stocking!
Thankfully, much of the meat was saved and is currently in the freezer here at my office. I know you all were concerned for our meat.

Easter
My 24 Hour To Do List
Carter and I arrived back home about 8 last night, giving me 24 hours before I need to be back at the airport to head to Denver for the week.
Having stayed in 5 different places over the last 7 nights, I spent a few moments this morning, eyes still closed, trying to remember which direction the bathroom was in. I was so happy to find I was at home!
My must-do list for this 24 hour window includes:
unpack
laundry
dryel work clothes
re-pack
charge all devices
bake bread for the boys
prep and freeze last week's CSA so the food doesn't go to waste
sign and send new CSA contract
write a report to Carter's speech therapist
play with carter
soak up some sunshine and warm weather
map various denver locations to which I'll need to drive
go through last week's mail
blog
catch up with the husband
replenish travel beauty supplies
book cab to the airport
shower, sleep and eat??
I have about 7 hours left, and I'm about half-way through my list. I think I'll get most of it done but a leisurely al fresco lunch probably isn't in my future. I'm currently multi-tasking by blogging and soaking up sun at the playground with Carter. The bread is rising at home, and I rode my bike here, so maybe I'll add exercise to the list, just so I can cross it off...
Crap, I just added several items to this list as I was writing it. Better get busy!

Carter's Spring Break
Carter seems to have had a great spring break in Arkansas with Mama Helen and Daddy Phil!
"Riding" Daddy Phil's motorcycle

First popcorn ("Only one at a time" wasn't strictly heeded)

Despite the fact that he's eager to see his dad, he's had a great time (and Thomas and I were grateful for the childcare while we worked this week!).
The bunny cake he made with Mama Helen
"Riding" Daddy Phil's motorcycle
First popcorn ("Only one at a time" wasn't strictly heeded)
A few things more things we don't have pictures of:
Swimming at the gym
Going to the alligator farm
Visiting Mimi's house
Watching All Dogs Go to Heaven 400 times
Playing hide-and-seek with Sadie
And this afternoon we're headed to visit with Grandaddy and Jyll and Caleb. Then it's off to the airport to go home!
This morning, Carter decided that he didn't want to wait for tonight. He picked up his essentials, and headed out the door, saying "I want go see my Dada right now!" Here he is, headed out in his pajama bottoms and socks with easter candy and easter eggs in tow.

Despite the fact that he's eager to see his dad, he's had a great time (and Thomas and I were grateful for the childcare while we worked this week!).

Arkansas Afternoon
Golf, beer, bocce, snacks. An excellent Arkansas afternoon.
We flew in to Little Rock this morning to go to a wedding tomorrow night (yay, Regan!). We are staying with my parents tonight, and Thomas and I are shacking up at a hotel after the wedding tomorrow night (not sure how long it's been since we've spent a hotel-night sans child...).
Carter is staying in Arkansas with the grandparents for his spring break. Thomas will go home Sunday afternoon to enjoy a child- and wife-free week at home, while I'll head to NYC for work. Then it's off to DC for more work and finally back to Arkansas to fly Carter home on Saturday. (Then it's a 24-hour turn around for me and I head off to Denver for a week. But that's more than a week away, so let's not dwell on it.) For the next 48 hours, we're on vacation!
I'll try to post some photos!

Girl Talk
I got to talk to some of my girlfriends face-to-cyberface this weekend. Thanks to ooVoo, we were able to do a three-way videocam call. Next time, we're going for a four-way. With just a glass of wine, a computer, and a videocam, we could pretend that we were having a night out together, despite our very long distance!
