Weekend

We had a fun weekend! On Friday night, we went to the Braves/Red Sox game.
Thanks to Matthew for getting us such great seats!

Carter and Mama got matching airbrushing (at Carter's insistence, though Elizabeth didn't really mind the paint -- or the glitter).

On Saturday night, we had a grown-up date night!

On Sunday night, Park, Ashley and Anna came over for some playin' and some grillin'. Park got all the good pictures, so you may want to check their blog in days to come for some better pics of Carter and Anna playing.

Just some quick photos from Carter's haircut today.

In the race car (actually fire chief car) watching "Cars" getting hair cut. What could be better? Self-taken "after" photo

Garden Update

What a difference 7 weeks makes...

We knew we planted too much in our garden, but figured that since we don't have terribly green thumbs, probably at least half of our plantings would die, so space wouldn't be an issue. As it turns out, everything is growing, so half of our plants may still die, but it will be because they they don't have any space! We have several tomatoes on the way and are about ready to harvest the wax beans. Our yellow squash, zucchini and cucumber plants are enormous, but aren't actually producing any vegetables yet. The carrots are growing, but are still a month or two away from being ready. We'll see if we actually get any food out of this experiment...

Carter has his eye on the tomatoes... "I'm supposed to be the tallest!"

Congrats to The Reverend Mama Helen!

My mom's "Rev" status was made official by the United Methodist Church this week. She graduated from seminary several years back (photo below), but had to undergo 3 years "probation" before she was legal. I'm pretty sure that 3-year period is standard for everyone, and not just due to her wild ways at seminary...

Congratulations, Mom!
Graduation, back in 2005
Making it official in 2009!
(thanks to Aunt Linda for the photos, since we couldn't be there!)

AAA Baseball

Dad, Park, and I hit the new Gwinnett Braves (AAA) ballpark this past weekend. Luckily it checks out for kid friendly (see the bouncy things in the outfield lawn) and we will be headed back with the kids soon!

Post Slip-N-Slide

I believe this sums up how I feel 2 days later....

Turner Field

Carter and I headed to Turner Field to watch the Braves last weekend with Uncle Park, Anna, and friends for his first baseball game of the season. Being a night game, I figured a couple of innings at best and then we'd head home. Well, he was raring to go and loved running all over the stadium so we ended up staying for 7+ innings! Granted, only about 1.5 innings of actual baseball was watched, but he had lots of fun and did the Tomahawk Chop with the best of them.

The "Tooner Field" play area and slide were the biggest hit, much time was spent climbing and sliding

The big Coke chairs are always fun to take a rest in!

Chips

More beach pics to come once mom emails me hers -- she got all the good ones! In the meantime...

On memorial day, I made some homemade, baked chips. I used beets, sweet potatoes, and regular potatoes. They were delicious. And they were a pain in the ass to make. Since I won't be making them again anytime soon (or possibly ever), I thought I'd memorialize the deliciousness here.

Oh, my tasty, colorful chips - you took way too long to make and were gone all too soon.

Putting it back together

We're getting the house back together after the plumbing work we had done. Holes are patched and Carter's room is (mostly) painted and reassembled, complete with new wall stickers, a new work of art (courtesy of Eleanor) and a newly handpainted lamp (by Carter).

Fun Fridays

From the same day care administrator that brought you this gem (notice the 'g'), we have the following note regarding some special summer days they will be having:

"On certain weeks there will be Fun Fridays were [sic] we the teachers and students will make ice cream, smoothies, butter, etc., which will still include water play."

Which one of these is not like the other....

Not sure about you, but having 3 year olds churning butter in the summer in the South does not exactly sound like a "Fun Friday" for anyone! Do they get little bonnets at least?

Way Back Machine

Just a reminder at how fast they grow. You may remember the first picture from last year...fun with popcorn containers.
This year he found a similar container and remembered exactly what to do with it...except the size ratio is a little different now.

(Yes, yes, I know the current container is smaller and thus exaggerates the giantness of our son, but still...he's growing awfully fast.)
