2013 Tour deCatur

Carter has been training for this 1 mile run for weeks. The morning of the race was cold and pouring rain. We gave him a choice, and he did it! He and Thomas ran the whole thing in the rain. And then T ran the 5k, also in pouring rain. John and I were there to watch both strong finishes!

Snow Day

This snow day actually provided snow, and winter activities!

Sledding

 Maple Syrup Real Snow Cones!

Yes, that's Carter in a Spiderman costume with enhanced pecs. It's the only thing he wears indoors these days...

Also - I was supposed to be headed to Maine today (and then drive to Boston on Wednesday). Needless to say, that didn't happen. Between the Atlanta storm and the upcoming northeastern one, I'm not sure if I'll make it out this week or not!

Snow Day

It wasn't really snowy, it was icy. And it wasn't even icy after about 7am, but school was cancelled anyway, so Carter got to spend some time at each of our offices yesterday. Below, entertaining himself at my office and checking out the melting fountain outside my office.

Snow Day Projects

This morning, in honor of the snowy day, Carter and I made chocolate chip pancakes and glittery snowflakes.

Carter is getting very good at cutting. He cut 24 very good hearts for valentines for his class and he did about half the cutting on these snowflakes (cutting over lines I drew for him in both cases).

Snowy Day

After enjoying the blizzard in NYC earlier this week, I came home to more snow!

Carter and I had fun making snow men, snow angels and snow balls this morning.

Otherwise, we're using the snow as a good excuse to stay in and relax!

Jingle Jog 2009

Thomas ran his second Jingle Jog 5K last weekend. This year, Carter joined him for the Elf Run (a terribly organized 50 yard dash for young kids to run with their grown ups).

Bronwyn was there to run it with Carter.

It was the coldest day of the year so far, which Carter did NOT enjoy.

But, apparently, it wasn't too cold for ice cream...

Snow!

Atlanta welcomed March with a nice snowstorm today. It started about 11am and is still going strong as of 3:30pm. It's our first Atlanta snowfall! I think it snowed once when we were out of town, but it has not snowed like this, when we've been here, since we moved. Which means, we don't think Carter hasn't seen snow in real life since he was about 9 months old. I wasn't home when the snow started, so I'll let Thomas blog later about Carter's reaction to it.

This is good snow. Big flakes, pretty wet -- perfect for snowballs and snowmen. Afraid that the snow would stop and melt any minute, we took advantage of the snow as soon as there was enough. Here are some pictures.

Chilly Weather

It has started to cool off here in Atlanta, and here are some pics to prove it.

Carter, sporting a stripey sweater and a scarf that he picked out to go with it (it is by no means actually scarf weather)

Shorts Season

As in Houston, shorts-weather is upon us here in Atlanta (most days). Here, Carter shows off approximately one day's worth of scrapes. Those poor legs! It's sure to be a scab-rific summer.

And, yes, he is attempting to eat his firetruck for breakfast. The kid will seriously eat anything.

Rainy Day at the Beach

We may be missing out on the snow in Atlanta, but we got plenty of precipitation down here too. When it rains all day, you have to find ways to occupy yourself, so...

We drove by the World's Smallest Police Station in Carrabelle, Florida.
Carter practiced his photography.
We enjoyed some treats.
And we put stuff on our heads.

Sleep, Sweet... Sleep??

Apparently, we spoke too soon.

I blame the weather. If it is going to fluctuate wildly between 40 and 70 degrees, how is a parent supposed to keep the household temperature regulated so that it is conducive to baby's sleeping? And how is a baby supposed to avoid getting a stuffy nose??

Damn weather.

Scary Warm

It was so warm here today! It hit 70 degrees. While we were out walking around, Thomas was looking for the Mister Softee man, and I had to remind him that the ice cream truck probably isn't out in January - even though it felt like summer. Despite how much this weird weather freaks me out, it was a beautiful day. After running errands and doing some packing (thanks to Joo for watching Carter so that we could get some boxes packed!) we took Carter for a dusk swing. And we stopped at Tasti-d-lite for some ice cream on the way!
