Easter

Carter got to do a lot of egg hunting this year. Also, the Easter Bunny provided Carter with a tooth pillow so that his buddy the Tooth Fairy will have an easier time finding his tooth next time he looses one. The EB brought John some peach flavored puffs.

Easter

Finally getting around to posting from Easter. Carter didn't get much candy, instead, he got a much needed new bicycle helmet in his Easter box (which he made).

He also got his first game for the Wii. A dancing game, of course!

This year we dyed and tattooed our eggs...

Friends came over to hunt for eggs in the afternoon. Silvie shared her Easter treats, including nail polish, which was a big hit with all the kids.

Egg Dying

We dyed eggs this morning. This was the first time Carter has really been interested in it and has really done it himself!

A Lucky Boy

A recent Carter quote: "I'm a lucky boy." And he really is. For lots of reasons, but here are a few from the last couple of weeks.
We live in such a great town! Recently, the city held it's annual touch-a-truck day, where they park all the city vehicles in a lot to let the kids play in them. Carter played in a dumptruck, an electric meter-maid car, a SWAT team truck, an ambulance, a firetruck, and more. It was a little insane -- and very noisy (they let the kids operate the sirens), but Carter had a blast!
On the topic of our great town, this weekend the city held an Easter egg "hunt". I say "hunt" because what they actually do is toss candy all over the lawn (NO hiding) and let the kids have a free-for-all grabbing it up into their baskets (you can see all the candy scattered on the ground behind Carter in the picture below, taken just before they said "Go!"). We "hunted" in the Kindergarten section of the lawn because the candy was WAY better (and the lawn much less crowded) than in the Preschool section.
Carter's class had a camping day last Friday. They pitched tents, napped in sleeping bags and ate smores. I went for part of it to help and got a few photos. We were one of only 3 families that forgot to send PJs for this activity, but we did bring one of the tents, so I think it evens out.

Easter

For the second year in a row, Carter and I celebrated Easter at my parent's house (we did it a day early this year).

After the (faux) Easter morning activities, we met up with Jyll and Caleb for lunch and playtime. The boys (mostly) had a great time together!

Carter's Spring Break

Carter seems to have had a great spring break in Arkansas with Mama Helen and Daddy Phil!

The bunny cake he made with Mama Helen
"Riding" Daddy Phil's motorcycle

First popcorn ("Only one at a time" wasn't strictly heeded)

A few things more things we don't have pictures of:
Swimming at the gym
Going to the alligator farm
Visiting Mimi's house
Watching All Dogs Go to Heaven 400 times
Playing hide-and-seek with Sadie

And this afternoon we're headed to visit with Grandaddy and Jyll and Caleb. Then it's off to the airport to go home!
This morning, Carter decided that he didn't want to wait for tonight. He picked up his essentials, and headed out the door, saying "I want go see my Dada right now!" Here he is, headed out in his pajama bottoms and socks with easter candy and easter eggs in tow.

Despite the fact that he's eager to see his dad, he's had a great time (and Thomas and I were grateful for the childcare while we worked this week!).

Oops

I guess we need to find a different place to keep the Easter candy.
At least he doesn't know which is the right side of the lollipop.

Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday, we went to church and saw my mom at work. Carter showed off for mom's congregation by going right up front and (mostly) sitting nicely during the children's service. He was the very first one up there!
Before church, Carter opened the basket that the Easter bunny left for him.

Yes! I got it open!

Oh! It has jelly beans inside. I remember these from yesterday. (I don't know why they withheld such wondrous things from me for the first 22 months of my life).

Black jelly bean. Delicious!

Looks like Carter will be responsible for eating all black jelly beans in our household... yuck.

Easter Saturday

The day before Easter my parents had mom's side of the family over for lunch. Carter very much enjoyed running around with all his cousins. He especially appreciated the toys Sam brought and the ice cream that Sadie fed him.

Carter finds an egg! We didn't have enough proper baskets for all the kids, so Carter had a pretty floppy, soft "basket". The eggs he found kept falling out of his basket, so he just kept finding the same eggs over and over and over again.

Sam shows off his loot!

Playing with the Big Boys

This weekend, Carter got to play a lot with big boys, including his older cousins and my dad. But the first big boy he played with was Caleb, who drove him around in his Jeep. I didn't fully appreciate how good a driver a 6-year-old could be - or how fast his car would go!

Safety First!
Carter picked this helmet up all on his own - and (thankfully) insisted on wearing it in the Jeep.

It appears as though Carter was a bit nervous about the ride at first...

But he quickly warmed up to it.

Carter was clapping and "Yay!"-ing all the way up the street.

More pics from the weekend, including Easter photos and some bath time hilarity, later this week.
Spring training pics from Thomas to come as well!

March Holidays

Because Easter falls so early this year, we were able to celebrate two holidays this weekend - St. Patrick's Day and Easter. (Next weekend, Carter and I will be in Arkansas, and Thomas will be in Orlando watching the Braves' spring training, so this was our chance to do Easter eggs together.)
Park, Ashley, Anna and Angie came over to celebrate with us. Everyone was very accommodating (if not completely understanding) my compulsion to color all our beverages green (how else do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?). The green iced coffees were, admittedly, a little strange. The funniest part of the afternoon was when Carter kept snatching the dyed eggs and trying to eat them. He was confused and disappointed when his teeth kept hitting shell. We did peel a couple for him, which he chowed down.

Happy Easter!

Not wanting to restrict the fun to just one day, Carter has been enjoying his Easter baskets all week (thanks, grandparents!).
Thomas and I are very much enjoying the sugary contents of the baskets. Carter likes the eggs.
And then today, Joo brought a very big treat. (Yes, that does say "Diva Da' Bunny").

Today was somewhat low-key, nothing like the eggstravaganza of 06 (see below),

but it was lovely (if a bit cold). We played at home, dyed eggs, had brunch with Joo and went to the playground.

Just in time for Easter

A homemade bunny ear hat from Mandi!

Thanks, Mandi! It is so cute - and incredibly well made!
