More Photos for Comparison
The boys are almost exactly the same age in these shots (but my camera quality is way better now!).

Another Milestone
John's first ride in the race car shopping cart. Carter was very excited to ride next to him and was very sweet (most of the time). But given how uncomfortable he was in there, I suspect that it may also have been his last ride.

Wrestling
John is getting to be sturdy enough for some gentle wrestling with his big brother. They both seem to have fun with it. I love hearing them enjoy each other.

NOW it's the Season
As soon as thanksgiving dinner was over, we broke out the Christmas pajamas! Because now is the appropriate time to start celebrating the Christmas season. Not back in early October when the retailers started. You may remember the pjs that John is wearing.

Brotherly Love
Carter continues (so far) to really, really love his brother. We have to watch carefully to be sure that he doesn't love him and squeeze him too hard, but it's very sweet. And, it's actually remarkable how much John responds when Carter sings to him...

Thomas and Carter Time
Hoping to soften the blow of transitioning from only child to big brother, Thomas has been doing a great job coming up with one-on-one big kid activities to do with Carter. From water play, to attending the local high school football game to camping in the backyard (they made it the whole night in the tent!), this has been a special time for the two of them.
But, Carter doesn't just like weekends because of all of these fun activities. As he said this morning, he also really likes "home days" because, "I get to see my baby a lot."
Note from Thomas: In case anyone was wondering: a two person tent is fine for two adults, but not nearly big enough for one adult and a five year old. Also, for S'mores in the microwave (the grill is broken), 10 seconds is just a few too many. Marshmallows go a little crazy of you're not careful.
Note from Thomas: We left at the half, with Decatur up 57-0. I have not seen a final score yet (they might still be playing....)

Baby's Room
When Carter was born, we lived in a two room apartment in Manhattan, so his "room" was a nook for his crib in our bedroom. By comparison, this new kid is going to get... a half a room! While our third bedroom will still function at times as a guest bedroom, the office portion of that room has been moved to either the basement or the dining room in order to give this kid some space. It's been fun to have a half a room to prepare for baby!

However, this kid doesn't have it too much better... Initially he'll sleep (we hope) in our bedroom, but when he's ready for his room, he'll sleep (we hope) in the little closet nook pictured below. Crib in a nook, just like his brother!
(So, yeah, he's not here yet. And before you ask, no, I have no idea when he's arriving. I'm feeling fine - just as fine and normal as a girl this pregnant can feel.)

10 Weeks to Go, More or Less
He's very active and is mostly treating me nicely, though I most certainly feel the 5 years older that I am this time around. Part of that is probably actually due to the fact that I was in much better shape 5 years ago thanks to all the NYC walking I did. But, I really have few complaints (today).
Carter is SO very sweet about his baby brother these days. He's taken to kissing and hugging my belly, and to talking to his little brother. Just the other day, baby brother apparently informed Carter that he likes Sponge Bob and that his favorite color is orange - just like Carter!
Frequently, when Carter gives me a hug and I say, "Thank you!", he says, "No. that wasn't for you. That was for [points to my belly]." So now I just keep my mouth shut and enjoy.
